Golthog. In the area around Sandjan in northwestern Iran, sedentary Kurds knot these Goltog carpets (also: Gholtog), which are similar in quality to the Bidjar. The firm, hard handle is similar to the Bidjar and is created by the special base weave. The cotton warp is tightly stretched and the weft is struck extremely tightly, creating a board-like weave to which the relatively tight knot is tied. The Goltog is usually kept in darker colors and a slender hexagon almost always dominates the inner field. In general, a very high-quality and tasteful Kurdish-Persian oriental carpet that is in no way inferior to the Bidjar.
